This was the first recorded sale in New Zealand of this tree species, which was first imported into New Zealand by Duncan and Davies Nurserymen. The garden at 'Lennel' has a very important collection of plants dating from 1880. The tree was planted by F.G. Hall-Jones c1941 (Baird, D. 1992).
