One of several large Camperdown elms located within the grounds of Whītau School (formerly Linwood North School) on Woodham Road, Christchurch. The school was established in 1908, and its grounds contain several mature specimens of this distinctive weeping elm cultivar.
The tree has a broad, spreading canopy with characteristic pendulous branches. Its planting date is unknown, although it may date from the early decades of the school's development. The trees form an established feature of the school grounds and contribute to the character of the site. Ra Hammer, 2026 |
