A former small house once stood beneath this tree but has since collapsed. Several vigorous suckers—around half a dozen—have developed from the parent tree and now reach a comparable height. The tree forms part of a wider collection of notable plantings on the property established by Ms Oborne and the late Mr Oborne, who planted many fine specimen trees here. Mr Oborne initially favoured tulip trees before later focusing on magnolias. The property also contains several large native podocarps, which are listed separately on the Register (Hammer, J. T., 2025).
