| General Notes:
|
Grey poplar is an infrequent species within the Selwyn District, and its wider distribution and dispersal across the region and New Zealand appear to be limited.
Despite its age, this specimen displays good vigour and vitality. It forms a minor but noteworthy component of the T. W. Adams Arboretum and is situated adjacent to the main path. The tree is distinguished by its irregular, spreading form, deeply fissured bark, and a prominent central leader stub, all of which contribute strongly to its character and visual interest. See arboretum historical notes CR/G1841 (Walker, M.G., 2025). |
