'The Victory Oak' situated in Ashburton Domain. This tree was planted on July 21st 1919 by Mrs H. Sutton, a Mother of five soldiers, two of whom died in WW1. The plaque reads;
THIS TREE WAS PLANTED

 MOTHER OF FIVE SOLDIERS 
ON JULY 21ST 1919 
IN MEMORY OF THE
 MEN WHO FELL IN THE
 GREAT WAR 1914-18
