| General Notes:
|
Perched on the Lyttelton side of the saddle near the Monument Hut stands a veteran Hoheria, believed to be the largest of its kind in the local area. Exposed to the full force of the winds that funnel across the ridge, it has weathered decades—perhaps longer—of harsh conditions.
This remarkable tree grows on the farm of Mr and Mrs Watson, 101 Purau Port Levy Road, where it remains a striking survivor in an otherwise rugged landscape (Hammer, J.R., 2025). |
