Kaituna Valley Scenic Reserve is a public conservation reserve. It sits halfway up Kaituna Valley, and is the only remaining forest on the valley floor. Within this remnant stands this notably large kahikatea, a significant survivor of the forest type that once covered the valley. (Hammer, J.R., 2025).
